The Yahoo announced on Wednesday (28) that it will launch its own portal playing videos online this year, an operation that seeks to win over users and YouTube content, internet platform leader in the segment.
Yahoo is ready to release it this summer (July-September), anticipated the specialized site “Ad Age,” and provide better contracts and fees for listing the major content creators, many of whom have publicly complained several times how difficult it is to make money on YouTube.
With this move Yahoo wants to win creators consolidated into YouTube to your new site.
YouTube, largest portal for online video in the world, has over 100 million monthly active users worldwide.
The bet for own video portal that competes with YouTube is part of the strategy developed by the relaunch of Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, who took office in July 2012.
Since Yahoo acquired Tumblr, changed logo, modified the home, updated the email and redesigned Flickr and its application for weather.
With these measures, Yahoo’s audience increased by 100 million users (800 million users) and mobile devices doubled to 400 million.
