Confirming rumors that emerged last month, Sony announced on Tuesday (19) an Android waterproof smartphone , but with intermediate settings. The same buzz had already advanced the name of novelty: Xperia M2 Aqua .
The model has a 4.8-inch screen and a resolution of 540 × 960 pixels (qHD), quad-core Snapdragon 400 1.2 GHz GPU Adreno 305 accompanied by chip, 1GB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, camera front 1.1 megapixel camera, 8 GB internal storage expandable with microSD data up to 32 GB and 2330 mAh battery.
For connectivity there is Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, NFC and 4G. Commanding all is the Android 4.4 KitKat.
As we see, the Xperia M2 Aqua has good specs, but differs very little from the Xperia “normal” M2 for sale in Brazil since June. To the outer design is pretty much the same.
The highlight of the new model is only for IP58 / 68 certification, which indicates that the device is completely resistant to dust, and especially the immersions in water for prolonged periods.
Until then, such protections were almost exclusively of high-end models like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and in the case of Sony itself, the sumptuous Xperia Z2 .
Sony promises to launch the Xperia M2 Aqua in black and white colors in countries of Europe, Asia and Latin America in the last quarter of 2014 Still no details on pricing, but expect one not much larger value than the Xperia M2 no water resistance. This arrived here with a suggested price of $ 899, but can now be found for less than $800.
