Samsung executive is ordered to appear before Indian court
The Supreme Court of India ordered that Lee Kun-Hee, chairman of the South Korean manufacturerSamsung Electronics, appears before a local court within six weeks to avoid arrest in a 10-year dispute with a supplier about a payment of $ 1.4 million.
Lee, 72, is the richest man in South Korea, with a net worth of $ 11.2 billion, according to “Forbes”.Samsung had no immediate comment on the Supreme Court order.
A panel of two judges ruled on Monday (31) that an arrest warrant issued against Lee by a local court in Ghaziabad, near New Delhi, would not run for six weeks, according to an order published in the court site .
Lee will have to appear before a local court and can seek bail and an exemption from having to appear, determined the justices.
